Be careful when selecting Training Courses and Training Providers !!!!!
You can get caught out and it could cost you money !! - To avoid these pitfalls, the Institute recommends that members utilise the services of our experienced authorised RTO's. For more information please contact John Bracey (President) on (02)9975-6430 or our OHS/Training Director Alan Crothers on 0408271934.
The AIPD represents the best interests of our members and the industry. We work with our members and for the professional development and interests of our industry. AIPD training services allow members and non members to access recommended RTO's. Our authorised RTO's were selected over a two year assessment period. We selected and utilize extensively experienced RTO's who can offer a comprehensive range of Nationally recognised courses to cover all the requirements for our industry. We also offer members free information regarding the optimum courses to suit your particular professional career path. These courses cover Recognised Prior Learning (RPL), for Investigators & Commercial Agents including Establish, Manage & Administer Trust Accounts, Cert IV Government - Investigations, Cert IV in Government - Fraud Control, Cert IV in Occupational Health & Safety. Licensing is a requirement in nearly all States, yes but it is not a qualification. You need to secure formal qualifications that best suit your chosen career path. Some RTO's often either do not know the range of courses you should be considering or simply do not offer you the information as they may not have the course under their legal training courses scope or know where to refer you. They generally will only sell you their particular product/s.

Introduction
The Australian Institute of Private Detectives (AIPD) was first incorporated in January 1992 following the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) inquiry into the unauthorised release of Government information.
The AIPD is the largest body representing the Industry and was formulated by the Private Investigation Industry to promote new legislation to take the Industry into the 21st century. The objectives of the AIPD are to institute professional and uniform training as well as ongoing education as to new laws affecting the Industry, which will benefit the commercial world and the general public.
It is essential for commercial interests and for the general public that the Industry has the same access to information in Government Departments and the private commercial areas as the Police have. This will assist in assuring that the commercial industry and the general public have the benefit of the ruling of the High Court of Australia so that everybody will be equal before the Law as the High Court has ruled in the Ah Tin Teoh case on the 7th April 1995 and the Kable Legislation in September 1996. (refer submission to Privacy Commissioner 2004 and application to Privacy Commissioner for PID 22/11/05)
Membership includes listing on the AIPD Web site as well as in the Industry Directory and permission to use the Institutes Logo on member's Letterheads and business cards.
